GOODBYE TO MY INCREDIBLY NEGLECTED BLOG.

This blog is about to become even more neglected as I have started a new blog with my new husband, Scott! Thanks to all of you who have regularly and patiently checked this site to see if I had actually updated it. Wish us luck as we try to be better bloggers on the new site: http://scottandkatietopham.blogspot.com/

I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!
There is a good explanation for completely neglecting my blog... I have been busy falling in love with my husband to be! We'll start another blog together when all of the wedding planning is out of the way. In the meantime, please check out our wedding website:
www.katieandscottwedding.com
We're getting married on Sept. 6th in St. George and will have a reception there. We'll also have an Open House in SLC on Sept. 19th. Please email me your snail mail address... katsta3 at yahoo dotcom... if you are interested in receiving an invitation/announcement.

I am lucky enough to love my job and enjoy the place I work.  Like all jobs, mine has ups and downs.  However, there seems to be a surplus of ups for me.  One 'up' in particular is working with a bunch of really fun people.  Every few months a group of us (fearlessly led by Brent, our C.O.O. who has climbed Kilimanjaro) go on some kind of outdoor adventure.  Yesterday we went snowshoeing near Snow Basin in some of the deepest powder I have ever seen (we were sinking 2 or 3 feet into the snow even though we had snowshoes on)!  It was an incredible workout and well worth the effort to get to the top.  We got there just in time to catch the sunset and were lucky enough to come across some beautiful cornices.  Unfortunately, my poor camera decided to give up the ghost last month and none of my buddies brought anything to take decent photos with.  So, we had to use our phones to document our arrival at the summit (hence the super low quality pictures).  Check out the pic of the cornice being held up by a tree... nature does some pretty crazy stuff!  We ended our snowshoe adventure at Taggarts Grill, a great little rustic place in the middle of NOWHERE.  Seriously, the exit sign just says "Taggart" and the address is on 'Taggart Lane."  It was dark and difficult to tell for sure, but that restaurant is likely the only building for miles and miles.  I highly recommend it if you ever have spare time and the urge to drive to the boondocks for some surprisingly excellent food.

A lot changes in a decade.
1998: my junior year at DHS... I began preparing to apply to colleges and swore that I would never ever in a million years go to BYU... the house of representatives impeached President Bill Clinton... Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa broke Roger Maris's home run record... and I was introduced to the world of 'online journaling' on a site called open diary.  I deleted my account in 2001 b/c I only had 10 entries and couldn't get anyone to check out my diary.  I said 'I don't really think this online journal thing will ever catch on'.
2008:  I am a BYU alum... Hillary Clinton is vying for the Oval Office... Major League Baseball's home run kings are under federal investigation for steroid use... and blogging is HUGE!  Over 75,000 new blogs are created every day.  So, after plenty of heckling from family and friends, fire & brimstone froze over and I opened a blogspot account.  Are you people happy now!?! ;)  I can't guarantee regular posts, -let's be honest, I averaged 3 posts a year during my online diary days- however, I will definitely try my best to post when I have time.  Wish me luck, here goes nothing...
